As 2018 slowly comes to a close, digital marketing experts are summing up the year behind us and lessons to be learned when it comes to web design. The team of experts at DesignAdvisor have come up with a list of the 15 of the year's most essential trends web designers and business owners alike should know about. Presented in the form of an infographic, these web design trends and their relevance are explained through statistics and case studies. Here's a highlight of five of the trends covered and the fascinating stats that accompany them.
The popularity of custom content strategies is on the rise. Successful content strategies can increase trust in a company and help establish a sense of community and familiarity. Inciting these feelings in customers helps companies sell more by establishing loyalty as users are more likely to buy from brands they trust and recognize.
Regular Website Optimization
As easy as it sounds. Website owners are starting to realize that scheduling and performing frequent testing and investments in website optimization can go a long way. The infographic states examples of relatively simple optimizations yielding a whopping 113% rise in page visits and a 77% increase in clicks on site.
This one is a little bit odd. An increasing number of sites are using lists with bullet points. This is because while 55% of visitors will read text in a list without bullet points, an impressive 70% will do so if the list contains bullet points. In their advice section, the folks at DesignAdvisor suggest keeping things simple and not building walls of text.
The cost of having a dysfunctional layout can be high, as almost 40% of visitors will stop engaging with a site if its layout is unattractive and difficult to navigate. Designers are making significant efforts to avoid clutter, and are turning to minimalist and easy-to-use templates which encourage downward scrolling and engagement.
These four trends are only one piece of the puzzle. For the full story and more fun facts and stats, check out the infographic below!
